What is kind of performance should I prepare for the Wild & Crazy contest?
It’s really up to you. The contest is new, so there is no set expectation of what will win, but I suspect that the more unusual it is, the more appealing it will be to the crowd. Since the crowd is judging the winner, you have the play to the crowd. So, start with a creative idea and technically execute it, and you should have a winner.
Will there be more than one place awarded in the 2010 Wild & Crazy contest?
As the contest grows and more people compete, more trophies for first runner up, second runner up, etc will be added.
Why are there performances going on while workshops are happening?
To give you the maximum amount of value for your money. If you decide to take a 10:00 a.m. workshop and a 1:00 p.m. workshop, you can either dance, shop, perform or socialize in between and still be entertained.
How can I make sure that my workshops aren’t taking place during my performance time?
You have the option of choosing first, second, and third time slots for your performance. If you choose the 12:00 p.m. hour, your performance will be scheduled sometime during that hour. To allow time for you to change into your costume, you may not want to sign up for a workshop after 11:00 a.m. It just takes a little planning and you can do all the things you want to.
When will the schedule be posted?
For 2010, I will post performance times and contest entries as they are received so that you can see how full a category or time slot is getting and can plan your workshop schedule around performances. If there is a performer you are dying to see, you will also know when she will be dancing.
What if I ask for 6 minutes and then decide to dance a piece that is 5 minutes (or 7 minutes). Is this allowed?
Yes. We’re not time Nazis. Time limits are “suggestions.” As long as you don’t go over 9 minutes for your slot, you can use as much or as little of that as possible. However, if you can let us know of your time change, we can plan better so that we can stay on schedule and your workshop schedule, performance schedule, and those who want to see you can be where they need to be at the appropriate time.
Can I perform more than once?
Absolutely, as long as space is available.
